Woke up and had our breakfast at our beachside camping place
Went to a visitor’s center in Northampton
Arrived in the Principality of Hutt River! We were greeted by His Royal Highness Prince
Leonard himself, who showed us around, and even stamped our passports. We toured the Government Office and the Post
Office, which had a collection of rocks, stamps, military medals and money.
H.R.H. Prince Leonard’s face was everywhere. On coins, bills, stamps, postcards, in a
giant stone statue. He was very proud of
the star named after him (I think I have one too, but I did not say that)
Sorry we didn’t buy more postcards, everyone—we were worried he
would think we were mocking him. Also,
he was totally reading them as we wrote them.
We sat in the Princess’ throne! We were not allowed to sit in his.
The Prince has a rolls Royce, with flag and crest, of course.
There was a minigolf course, but we were not invited to play on
it.
He tried to sell us pens by telling us they were half the price of
the same pens in Australia.
The 13,000 citizens have filled out an online application.
A Polish placement featured the Principality of Hutt River and its
flag, but not Canberra.
We had fun.
We drove through the National Park to the town of Kalbarri.
Windy lunch at picnic benches on the beach.
We continue to be unable to find black beans. Julia has begun to lose all faith in
humanity.
Allie collected sand during a walk along the cliffs. To match her nerdiness, Julia simultaneously
took pictures of joints in the rock.
Beautiful vistas in Kalbarri.
First shower of the roadtrip!
